In case you didn't see the update on the last blog post:

Apparently, "Join this blog" does not set up an email reminder. Instead, to get email updates, click on the new Subscribe via Email link in the sidebar and enter your email address. Sorry for the confusion.

I'll keep it short and simple this time. Here's my verse!

Megan L. from San Marcos: In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 NIV

Oh, goodie! I get to be first to comment instead of one of the last this time! LOL!

Thanks, Megan and Andy, for setting up a way to subscribe via email. That was very sweet of you to do! (I am subscribed via "Feed Burner" now.)

Megan, you inspired me with your Verse 3. :-D

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 8: 37-39 (ESV)

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

I'm going to memorize 1 Timothy 1:15-17, but I'm going to do it a verse at a time. So.....

1 Timothy 1:15 - Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners- of whom I am the worst.

Romans 2:13 "For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified."

Jenny A. from Fallbrook, CA

"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer."
Ps. 19:14

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1Thes. 5:16-18 NIV

Just a good daily reminder :)

"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing" John 15:5 (NKJV)
I want to bear the fruit of self control. In order to do so I need to abide in Jesus. Apart from Him, I won't be able to do it.

Karen said...

Karen K. from Carlsbad: Psalm 103:4 Who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies.
(I have changed from the NLT to the NKJV version. I was in church reading it in the pew Bible and like that translation a lot more! I recognized how famous it is... and easier to memorize since it is more familiar.)

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.
—Philippians 2:14-15

This is a "verse of the day" becuase i didn't have a specific verse picked but i love it!

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me. Isaiah 46:9 KJV

I picked this verse from my daily reading I have been doing. Just reminds me that it is important to learn the things from the past. Love that our God tells us He is the only ONE!!!!

Danae L, Escondido:

I want to learn all of Psalm 46 so here is the next section:

"There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress." Psalm 46:4-7, NIV

Edie G from Albuquerque:
"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, 'This is the Way; walk in it!'" Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

This one is so comforting to know that God will not let me stray without pursuing me! I saw this in a bible study I am doing and it just spoke to me and I thought (ding ding ding! This verse is going to be next on my list to memorize!)

"Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."

1 Thes 5:16-18 (NLT)

I want to turn the crankiness that appears at times into joy at all times.

Here is Amy's "Verse" 4. :-D

Amy W., Carlsbad, CA

"Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own.
But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 3: 12-14 (ESV)

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:22-24
