Scripture Memory 2012: Verse 7

Happy April Fool's Day!

I once saw a bumper sticker declaring April 1st as National Atheists Day. I didn't get it until I saw the verse referenced at the bottom: Psalm 14:1

"The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'"

If you are looking for a verse to memorize, that might be a fun one to learn for April Fool's Day.

Here is my verse for this time around.

Megan L. from San Marcos: "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Hebrews 12:1-3

Verse 7 - April 1st

Hi all,

I'm continuing my quest to try to wrap my head around the ideal of the Prov. 31 woman:

"She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands.
She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar.
She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens."
Prov. 31: 13-15 (ESV)

So, this one's a breeze!  "She rises while it is yet night..." Yep, I do that all the time!  NOT!   I'm more likely to "retire while it is barely day," than to "rise while it is yet night."

See... this is why I've always disliked this woman so much!  LOL!

Well, at least I'll like her when I get to verse 18 on April 15th:
"Her lamp does not go out at night."

Now THAT I have a handle on!  LOLOL!  ;-D

NIV John 1:6-8
There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not that light; he came only as a witness to the light.

She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. Proverb 31:13-15 KJV

Here is my verse:) I'm doing it along with Katy! Very good verses! These verses are great to learn from but also a huge encouragement to me! Sometimes everyday tasks to pile up and the repeating of them everyday can get tiresome and seem pointless but God has put the woman of proverbs in the Bible for a reason. Because of these verses I know that I am pleasing God by taking care of my family:) It also just reminds me of my husband who goes to work 5 days a week 12 hours a day and works very hard to provide for our family. I praise the Lord that I am blessed to be a wife and mother and hope to be a Proverbs woman someday:)

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
Matthew 6:33

This was part of the sermon this morning. Jesus is saying to be content and trust in all circumstances. Rather than worry we should seek him.

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[e] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Okay, since I didn't have Amy's Verse 6 before Verse 6 closed, it was:
"A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger." Proverbs 15:1 (ESV)

Amy's Verse 7 is:
"Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!" (Psalm 96:3 ESV)
